For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, this quote feels particularly apt at the moment. Yet, no matter your location, its lesson speaks to us all. As we move into a new season, we reflect on what has passed, what went well, and what we can let go of and improve on going forward. Our latest impact report highlights your generous support and the wide-reaching impacts of our work over these past six months, going far beyond the trees. It also talks about plans and the future we want for TreeSisters as we evolve and shed our leaves. Thank you as ever for your ongoing support. As an organisation, we constantly strive to work as ethically as possible, to do the most good for all beings and be transparent with you, our network of supporters. Seasons change, and if we're lucky, so do we.

Our Interim Director introduces the Summer Impact Report

The year seems to be flying by, and I'm delighted to share TreeSisters' Summer 2022 Impact Report detailing just some of the work we've been doing with your incredible support over the past six months. For those of you who don't know me, I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am Georgina and the Interim Executive Director at TreeSisters. It is an absolute privilege to lead this organisation during this period, and I want to thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for your ongoing support.

New Series of Full Moon Meditations

October launches a new series of live full moon meditations and co-creative poetry to reconnect us with the natural world and remind us of the importance of living in harmony with all. Following the Embodied Forest series, this next six month journey will connect us to the whole web of life. Join us as we journey beyond the human experience, and recognise the importance of life rooted in reciprocity rather than domination.

Spotlight on... Mount Kenya

Kenya's forests are vital for wildlife, freshwater resources, and the materials they provide to local people. Kenya's rural communities depend heavily on forests for their livelihood, yet trees cover only 7% of Kenya. It's one of the countries most affected by deforestation in Africa. TreeSisters is supporting the International Tree Foundation to work with farmers, women and school children to reforest the area around Mt. Kenya. The project aims to restore a critical water catchment for Kenya's people that delivers an estimated 40% of the country's water needs and gather communities around the rehabilitation of their forest and agricultural lands.

Partnerships: Nature in the Boardroom

We are delighted to share that TreeSisters' business partner, Faith in Nature, has become the world's first company to appoint Nature to its Board of Directors. Nature will now be represented on the board by an individual legally bound to speak on behalf of the natural world. They will have a voice and vote on the future of the business. This decision extends a growing legal precedent around environmental personhood and the attribution of legal rights to non-human entities. It makes enormous strides for organisations that want to do more to reduce their environmental impact. TreeSisters would like to give a massive congratulations to Faith in Nature for this world first. We are proud to partner with them and hope they are the first of many.

Events & Courses

Join us for the first gathering of this new series of Full Moon Meditations, where we turn our curiosity toward the Stones and Rocks of this world - wise, ancient embodiments of deep time and memory holding the Earth's stability yet constantly evolving and changing. What does it mean to relate to and appreciate these beings we share the planet with? Join us on the 11th of October to engage and care for this world and all its inhabitants.

For this month's Indigenous Wisdom for the Earth, we're returning to one of our past favourites, Angaangaq Angakkorsuaq, a traditional healer of the Far North from Kalaallit Nunaat, Greenland. Recorded at the Climate Conference in Findhorn, Angaangaq sat down with TreeSisters Founder Clare Dubois to discuss his work, communication and respect for animals and plants, his hopes for tree planting in Greenland, and so much more.
