Partnerships that change the world.
This is a call to everyone who is feeling the profound need to take action in the face of the growing environmental crescendo unfolding around us.
Nature and women are the life givers on Earth, and yet environmental and women's causes currently receive less than 4% of global giving. A radical re-evaluation is needed; lead by strategic philanthropists willing to help shift the paradigm from the inside out. It's time to reinstate the Feminine.
Reforestation is one of the recognised solutions to reduce carbon. Global warming is finally taking central stage and the public are waking up to the need for action. We believe that we have the collective capacity to redefine what it means to be human and collectively choose to protect life on earth.
TreeSisters inspries and supports women worldwide to unify around a collective life giving mision; to protect future generations by strengthening humanity's relationship with nature, reinstating a culture of care towards life and accelerating the restoration of the global forests.
We are looking for individuals who are looking for a practical project with heart, soul and personal meaning - who want to be part of this culture and climate shifting work that will impact future generations in measurable and unmeasurable ways. At whatever level of giving resonates with your heart, we would love to invite you to see yourself within this circle that stewards in the next chapter of TreeSisters, for women and the earth.
'If I had to use one word about TreeSisters it is HOPE. After despairing for so long about the state of our planet and humanity, TreeSisters has given me so much hope for our future and the feeling that it is possible to change this mess around.' ~Nikki Shabbo
We gratefully welcome contributions at any level because every amount helps, and all of our giving matters.

Women drive 85% of consumer choices. When enough women step into leadership and embed ecological awareness into their everyday choices, global markets will change and future generations will be educated. TreeSisters exsists to help women find their voice, their gifts and their courage to step into leadership and action on behalf of the natural world and the children who are to inherit.

1. Education & Awareness: providing online courses, tools, meditations, leaderships offerings and global campaigning to activate inspiration, creativity, leadership, shared action and activism.
2. Community Engagement: dynamic social community platforms, offerings and volunteers unify the diverse creativity, perspecitives and leadership of over 270k treesisters across 200 countries.
3. The Groves: we provide content, structure and support for women to start TreeSister groups in their local communities (150 Groves in 30 countries) providing the resources needed to start and sustain local actions (for example; our Uganda Grove has planted 50k saplings and is now preparing 1M for 2019).
If we would make it as normal for everyone to give back to nature as it currently is to take nature for granted, how much ecological restoration could we achieve, and how fast could we achieve it?
TreeSisters exists to generate mass public awareness of the role that grassroots led reforestation can have in both ecosystem restoration and climate mitigation. For every £10/$10 we receive for our network we plant 25/33 trees. We have planted 4.2M tropical trees across 8 diverse ecosystems within the last five years, providing significant social and ecological impact and benefits. 3.2k monthly donors are currently funding over 2M trees a year.
We seek projects that reforest around remaining intact forest landscapes, restore watersheds and soils, protect endangered species and match our social requirements. We partner with exemplary reforestation organisations who are experts in their regions. We educate globally to invite monthly giving towards the trees. We channel 80% of those funds directly to our planting partners (20% is allocated to our women's work, raising awareness, campaigning and network growth).
Our current Reforestation Partners & regions:
WeForest: Cloud forest in North East India and forest corridors between the last fragmants of intact Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil.
Eden Projects: Mangrove and dry deciduous forests in Madagascar and community forest (jungle) in Nepal
International Tree Foundation: Reforesting the African water towers in Mt Kenya in Kenya and Mt Bamboutos in Cameroon.
Project GreenHands: Agro-forestry in Tamil Nadu, Southern India where monsoons have now failed.
Plus, we are also currently exploring four new projects in Mozambique, Papua New Guinea, Haiti and Amazonia.
"Scientifically, practically, and emotionally, the work and purpose of TreeSisters is one of, if not the most, significant initiatives that can be undertaken by humankind to address the future of civilization. The world's greatest land-based stores of carbon reside between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn in the form of forests. Their restoration is critical to reverse climate change and create a humane and liveable future. Can women accomplish something that has failed governments and agencies for decades? I not only think so—I believe it may be the only way it can be accomplished." ~ Paul Hawken, author of Blessed Unrest and Project Drawdown
Fast growing tropical trees sequester carbon three times as fast as temperate trees.
Atmospheric carbon levels over 400ppm now point beyond two degrees of warming to colossal sea level rise. By two degrees, we're told that the rainforests will have burnt and the ice caps melted, profoundly altering both oceanic and meteorological currents, causing a severe water scarcity and food production crisis. Carbon sequestration (to slow warming) is now a global imperative.
The tropical forest belt is crucial to the planetary hydrological cycle (rain creation and transport), planetary cooling transpiration, and harmonisation and balancing of our weather patterns. It is also where the planet's poorest now face the greatest climate extremes of drought - the negative effects of which are significantly reduced by increased forest cover.
Tropical reforestation is one of the most multi-faceted positive solutions to climate change that we have, which is why we need to rapidly scale up awareness, collective responsibility and action to normalize giving back through trees. This is what TreeSisters is for.
