FOREST BATHING.

WHAT IS FOREST BATHING?

Though popularised in 1980s Japan as shinrin-yoku, forest bathing—the practice of immersing oneself in Nature for healing and wellbeing—is far older, rooted in traditions across the world. Shinrin-yoku translates to "taking in the forest atmosphere," and it's an immersive experience that invites you to engage all your senses in the healing power of Nature.

Spending time in your local forest or woodland, surrounded by a lush canopy of green, hearing the gentle rustle of leaves overhead, and breathing in the earthy scent of moss and damp soil. Perhaps a bird alights on a branch unusually close, or a fox stops to hold your gaze. Time seems to stand still, and a feeling of calm and belonging washes over you. You are here. You are part of the forest.

Immersion is the essence of forest bathing—a mindful experience with the natural world where time slows, and the mind finds peace.

BENEFITS OF FOREST BATHING.

01

02

Mental Clarity and Creativity.
Better Sleep.

Studies have shown that forest bathing can improve cognitive function, enhance focus and creativity, and alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression. It's a natural prescription for mental wellbeing in an increasingly overstimulated world.

Research shows that spending time in Nature is conducive to deeper, more restorative sleep and can significantly improve overall sleep quality. By immersing yourself in the calming embrace of the forest, you increase your likelihood of waking up feeling truly refreshed and ready to embrace the day ahead.

Immunity Support.
Reduce Stress.

Forest air is good for you! Phytoncides, natural compounds emitted by plants, benefit humans by supporting the body's immune system and reducing inflammation. Studies show that people who regularly spend time in Nature experience improved health outcomes, with phytoncides believed to play a key role in enhancing the body’s immune system.

Our fast-paced, screen-focused modern lives often come with additional stress. Forest bathing offers a natural antidote. The tranquillity of the forest, coupled with the presence of phytoncides reduces blood pressure and lower cortisol levels to promote a sense of calm and relaxation.

05

Connection and Mindfulness.

Forest bathing offers a precious opportunity to unplug and reconnect away from distractions. This mindful immersion invites you to engage your senses—listening to rustling leaves, inhaling earthy scents, and feeling the textures around you.
By practicing regularly, you can deepen your connection with the Earth, fostering a sense of belonging and grounding. This awareness enhances your wellbeing and reminds you of the beauty and interconnectedness of all living things.
