MARECHAL THAUMATURGO, BRAZIL.

Restoring the Amazon, Revitalising Communities

A VISION FOR REGENERATION.

In the heart of the Amazon, along the banks of the Juruá River, lies Marechal Thaumaturgo—a region of breathtaking biodiversity and deep cultural heritage. Yet, despite being surrounded by lush forests, its people face deforestation, polluted waters, and the erosion of traditional knowledge.

The Green City project is a response to these challenges, rooted in restoration, education, and community resilience. In partnership with the Yorenka Tasorentsi Institute and the Warrior Youth Guardians of the Forest, this initiative will plant fruit-bearing trees in both family gardens and public spaces, reconnecting people with the land that sustains them.

The project focuses on
engaging young people by working with schools, youth football teams, and families to foster a deeper connection with Nature and highlight the critical importance of protecting their surrounding forests.

This is more than tree planting. It’s about restoring harmony between people and Nature—ensuring future generations can thrive within a healthy, abundant Amazon.

About our Partners

The Yorenka Tasorentsi Institute

We have been working with the Yorenka Tasorentsi Institute since xx as part of the Amazon Forest Garden project (Link). This Indigenous-led organisation blends traditional wisdom with modern sustainability practices to heal the Amazon and its communities. Founded by Benki Piyãko, the Institute creates global models of conscious land stewardship, integrating ecological, social, and cultural restoration.

Warrior Youth Guardians of the Forest

A dedicated group of young leaders trained in agroforestry, apiculture, and sustainable farming. Their mission: to protect, restore, and sustain life in the Amazon while empowering their communities with the skills and knowledge to thrive.

Why This Matters

Marechal Thaumaturgo is one of the most ecologically vital yet vulnerable regions in the world, with 96% of its land protected. However, deforestation, pollution, and unsustainable food systems continue to erode its landscapes and traditions.

A primary objective of this project is to tackle the root cause of deforestation—the growing disconnect between humanity and the natural world. By fostering a deeper relationship between people and Nature, we aim to restore balance to the ecosystem, protect vital resources, and promote sustainable living practices that support both the environment and local communities.

Through this project, we will:

🌱 Restore Biodiversity – By planting native fruit trees to increase tree cover and revive local ecosystems.

🌎 Protect Waterways – Planting trees and educating communities on reducing pollution and waste to help safeguard the Juruá River.

🌾 Promote Sustainable Living – Teaching organic farming and nutrition to reduce reliance on chemically treated food.

🌱 Educate Young People – Inspiring the next generation to care for the Earth and live in harmony with the forest.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Strengthen Communities – Engaging families, young people, and elders in a shared mission of care for the land.

This is a community-led movement—a step towards a thriving, self-sufficient future.

MARECHAL THAUMATURGO

RESTORING UNPARALLELED BIODIVERSITY

Marechal Thaumaturgo, located in the state of Acre in western Brazil, is nestled within the Amazon rainforest—a region renowned for its unparalleled biodiversity.

The rainforest hosts jaguars, tapirs, capybaras, and various species of monkeys, alongside a variety of birds and reptiles. Notably, it is a habitat for endemic species such as the Amazon river dolphin and the golden lancehead viper.

The area is also critical for rare bird species like the Harpy eagle and offers sanctuary to numerous butterfly species. As a biodiversity hotspot, it plays a vital role in ecosystem functions such as water regulation, air purification, and carbon storage. However, deforestation and climate change present significant threats, impacting both wildlife and the indigenous communities who depend on the forest for their livelihoods. Protecting this area is crucial for maintaining some of the most biologically significant ecosystems in the Amazon basin.

Join the Movement

You can be part of this. Your support will help families grow their own food, restore the Amazon’s forests, and protect a way of life that has existed for generations. Every tree planted is a step toward a future where people and Nature thrive together.

💚 Your gift, no matter the size, is a seed for the future.

This is more than tree planting—it’s about food security, clean water, and the resilience of a people who have cared for the Amazon for centuries. Will you stand with them?
